There’s a lot going on in the world of hydrangea breeding and there are many cultivars available to horticultural professionals and the gardening public. Twenty four hydrangea cultivars are being evaluated through the Earth-Kind® program at five locations in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. This evaluation program is identifying the strongest hydrangeas that will perform well in a low-maintenance garden. Kathy Zuzek, University of Minnesota Extension, will highlight older and newer cultivars among both the panicled, smooth, and bigleaf hydrangeas, and discuss how they are performing in the Earth-Kind® trial.
